A popular destination with European nobility in the 19th century the city enjoys many well-preserved Belle Époque-style buildings and villas. The town’s main attractions are Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori, the Borromean Islands. This group of picturesque islands can be reached via one of the ferries in the port (a 3-minute walk away) and are known for their opulent palaces and well-manicured gardens. The nearby Mottarone mountain also provides a popular destination offering panoramic views across the Lake, visitors can take a cable car ride to the summit and enjoy hiking and skiing. The lake-side hiking area of Passeggiata Lungo Lago is a 9-minute walk from the apartment and the local beach is a 6-minute walk away.
